Comedy Touches the Soul

Despite what some may think, our God is the God of joy.  He created laughter and He also created many people who like to make others laugh.  One of the hosts of a new SAT-7 TÜRK program is well-known in Turkey as a comedic actor.  He says, “My life in arts started 29 years ago, at the same time as my life with Christ,” and he’s glad to have the opportunity to make programs that explore life issues in a way that makes people smile.

His show includes mini-sketches and discussions, for example:  one recent program included a scene where a woman was picking mushrooms in a city park.  A park attendant came up to her and said, “you can’t pick those, they are poisonous!”  The woman responded, “Well, I’m not going to eat them of course!  I’m only going to sell them in the market!”  With that kind of lead-in, the actors could then talk about how we often do things that poison our relationships with others.  According to the host, “Comedy doesn’t get a lot of respect.  There is no Oscar for comedy.  But the information you get through comedy often stays in your mind.  You don’t forget it.”
