SAT-7 News and Prayer Letter | September 2008

"WHY IS THAT?"by the children and for the children

An uninhibited thirst for knowledge is the single most common characteristic of children across all nations and generations. "Why is That?" is a program dedicated to answering all kinds of questions we receive from our young viewers, mainly between the age of 7 and 14. The program is hosted by Essam Nagy from Egypt, as the amicable character of "Abul 'Urreef" – loosely translated into 'Mr Know' – who is widely known and loved from the popular children's show, "As-Sanabel."

In each 25-minute episode, Mr Know combines education and entertainment, as he answers three questions – one of a scientific or historical nature, one spiritual, and one that is bound to put a smile on your face. Try giving a 3-minute answer to questions like "How do cell phones work?" and you will realize just how challenging Essam's work is! Or try to explain: "How can God be the Father and the Son at the same time?" And then there are trick questions, like: "If we should love our enemies, and the devil is our enemy, does that mean we should love the devil?" Queries also include innocent contemplations such as, "Do fish sleep?" and "Are there Playstations in Heaven?" Aiming to provide simple yet responsible answers that can be absorbed by the young mind, Essam consults reference libraries as well as spiritual leaders to ensure proper and inspiring guidance. Hard work indeed, but as Essam said: "The enthusiastic comments we receive daily mean the world to me..."

Please pray: that 'Why is that?' will continue to stimulate the budding minds of children around the world, and that our producers and host will be able to contribute to the spiritual growth of the younger generations.
