SAT-7 News and Prayer Letter | July 2008

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) What a tragic world we live in. Across the Middle East and North Africa, war, terrorism and criminal activity destroy lives and families every day. At times I simply want to cry because of what I see in the news. But while I lament the loss of life, and pray for peace, I also see signs of hope. In May peace unexpectedly broke out in Lebanon. For sixteen months our staff and all the Lebanese people waited to see if an intense political standoff might spark another devastating civil war. But to nearly everyone’s surprise, the differing factions found a compromise! As the head of our office said, “In my opinion, this is a miracle that could only have happened with the Lord’s help. We know people have been praying. I’m 100% sure prayer made a difference.” But what about places where peace has yet to come, where people continue to worry about war and conflict? Jesus tells us to “take heart” for he has overcome the world. SAT-7 is in the business of helping our viewers “take heart” and to find hope in Christ. We also believe that Christians in the region can spark peace in their communities. In partnership with several other local ministries we have just launched a new media campaign called, “Peace Amidst Violence” which will help all our viewers seek and find peace in spite of the violence which may be all around them. In the ARABIC channel section of this newsletter you can read more about this important campaign. Let us pray together that God will use it to help break the cycles of revenge and violence which are so prevalent in this area, for the sake of our Christian brothers and sisters, and for all who live here. Yours in the service of the Prince of Peace,
-Terry
