Regional Overview

The Middle East is a historical and political region with no clear boundaries. It is also the geographic origin of three world religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The Middle East and North Africa is a broad region, stretching from Morocco in the west, to Iran in the east. It covers deserts, mountain ranges, ethnic groups, languages and cultures. It includes wealthy Gulf Nations and impoverished areas of Central Asia and North Africa. Surprisingly to many, satellite TV is popular in every country, every city, and even in the most remote of areas where viewers, even some living in Bedouin tents, use gas generators or car batteries to power their TVs and receivers.
