Serving the “Forgotten Faithful”
One of my staff once made a presentation in a church that included information about a SAT-7 program made in Bethlehem. When the talk concluded, a man came up and said, “There is such a thing as a Palestinian-Christian? I thought that was an oxymoron (two words that cannot go together).” Sadly, many people in the world still do not realize that we have brothers and sisters in Christ who live in Palestinian areas and all across the Arab world.
The June 2009 National Geographic Magazine™ includes an article entitled “The Forgotten Faithful” which I encourage you to read. It profiles the lives of some Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian Christians. It describes how many of these Christians, despite having lived in the area for generations, are now fleeing the region. The article includes dramatic data about the shrinking size of the local Christian presence.
Here at SAT-7 we have not forgotten our Middle Eastern, North African, Persian and Turkish Christian brothers and sisters. More than 75% of our programs are produced by these Christians and our broadcasts aim to include presenters, guests and leaders from all the major Christian communities. With God’s help and grace, these local believers are best able to leverage the power of the media for the sake of the Church and itswitness in the Middle East and North Africa.
Thank you for supporting our broadcasts, and for not forgetting those who faithfully serve Christ in this often troubled region.
Yours in His Service together,
